Introduction
The study investigated the impacts of environmental policy on climate resilience in developing countries. The objective of the research was to identify the existing environmental policies in developing countries and assess their effectiveness in enhancing climate resilience.
Methods
The study employed a qualitative research design, using a literature review and case studies of three developing countries. The literature review focused on existing environmental policies in developing countries and their impacts on climate resilience. Case studies were conducted in Ghana, Kenya, and Bangladesh. The case studies involved key informant interviews, focus group discussions and document analysis of policy documents.
Results
Results showed that environmental policies in developing countries were inadequate in addressing climate resilience. The policies lacked the necessary frameworks for adaptation and mitigation. However, there were some policy interventions that showed a positive impact on climate resilience such as afforestation programs and community-based adaptation initiatives.
Discussion
The study revealed that environmental policies in developing countries need to be strengthened to become more responsive to the challenges of climate change. Policies should be more inclusive, involving all stakeholders in the development and implementation process. Furthermore, policies need to be integrated with other sectors such as agriculture, health, and water resources, to ensure a holistic approach towards building climate resilience.
Conclusion
The study concludes that environmental policies need to be revised and strengthened to enhance climate resilience in developing countries. Inclusive and participatory policy development and implementation is essential, and policies need to be integrated across all sectors to achieve maximum impact on climate resilience.
