Introduction
The research study aims to address the challenges of sustainable waste management in urban areas by exploring the different waste management methods, evaluating their effectiveness, and identifying the obstacles to sustainable waste management. The study highlights the need for sustainable waste management practices in urban areas to achieve sustainable development goals.
Methods
The research used mixed-methods approach collecting data through surveys and interviews. The surveys were conducted to collect data on waste generation, disposal methods, and perceptions of waste management practices. Interviews were used to obtain additional information on existing waste management practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Results
The study found out that various waste management practices are in use in urban areas. The most common waste disposal method is landfilling, followed by incineration, composting, and recycling. However, the study also found out that there are obstacles to sustainable waste management, including inadequate infrastructure, low levels of awareness about sustainable waste management practices, and shortage of resources.
