- What are some other crafts you know about?
- Why do you think people like making things by hand?
Let’s Read!
These days, making things by hand is popular again! People like creating unique items that aren’t made in a factory. It’s also good for the environment to reuse and upcycle old materials. Many people also find crafts relaxing and fun!
Listen and Learn!
(Teacher plays a short clip of someone talking about their favorite craft hobbies. Focus on the words they use to describe what they like to make and why.)
Talk with a Partner!
One of you is a crafty person. The other wants to learn a new craft. The crafty person gives suggestions and explains what makes that craft fun.
Example:
- Person 1: “I’d like to try a new craft. What do you recommend?”
- Crafty Person: “You could try knitting! It’s relaxing, and you can make warm scarves and hats for winter.”
Homework:
Write a short paragraph about a craft you’ve tried or would like to try. What do you like about it? What would you make?
Extra Fun:
If you can, bring in something you’ve made by hand to show the class! Or, find pictures online of crafts you think are cool.
