Learning Goals:

- Talk about why it’s important to keep learning.
- Read about a person who took classes to help their career.
- Listen to someone talk about how to choose the right class or training.
- Write about your own plan for learning new things.
Key Words:

Let’s Read a Story!
Sarah worked in marketing for a few years but felt her skills were getting old. She decided to take some online courses in digital marketing and social media. The courses helped her learn new things and get a better job!
Questions about the Story:
- What was Sarah’s job?
- Why did she take courses?
- How did the courses help her?
Listen and Learn!
(Teacher plays a short interview with a career advisor talking about how to choose the right course or training program.)
Talk with a Partner!
One of you is a person who wants to learn something new. The other is a friend giving advice about what to learn and where to take classes.
Example:
- Person: “I want to learn a new language, but I don’t have a lot of time.”
- Friend: “You should try an online course. They’re often more flexible and you can learn at your own pace.”
Homework:
Write a short plan for your own learning. What do you want to learn? Where can you find a class or course? When will you do it?
Example:
My Learning Plan:
- Goal: Learn to speak Spanish.
- Resources: Take an online Spanish course, use a language learning app, practice with a language partner.
- Timeline: Start the online course next week, practice with the app for 15 minutes each day, find a language partner by the end of the month.
Extra Fun:
Look online for free or low-cost courses on a topic you’re interested in. Share your findings with the class!
