Let’s Read!
In Country X, they just had an election. The new president is the youngest person ever to have this job! People hope the new president will bring good changes. There are some problems in the economy, but people are working together to try to make things better.
Listen and Learn!
(Teacher plays a short news clip about a potential economic recession and how people are getting involved in activities to help make things better.)
Talk with a Partner!
One of you is a news reporter. The other is an expert on a current event. The reporter asks questions, and the expert explains the situation.
Example:
- Reporter: “Can you explain what this new law will change?”
- Expert: “This law will help protect the environment by making companies reduce their pollution.”
Homework:
Write a short letter to a government official (like the president or your mayor). Tell them about an issue that you care about and what you think they should do about it.
Extra Fun:
If you can, watch or listen to a news report in English. Try to understand the main story and any new words they use.
