Let’s Read a Story!
The Harrison family has a special tradition. Every year, they go to their grandparents’ farm for a big reunion. Everyone helps out – kids set the table, adults cook the food, and grandparents tell stories. Sometimes, there are little disagreements, but they always talk it out and have fun together.
Questions About the Story:
- What is the Harrison family’s tradition?
- How does everyone help out at the reunion?
- What happens when there are disagreements?
Listen and Learn!
(Teacher plays a short conversation about how families are different now than they were in the past.)
Talk with a Partner!
One of you is a parent, the other is a child. Talk about some of the responsibilities the child has at home.
Example:
- Child: “Do I have to take out the trash again?”
- Parent: “Yes, it’s your responsibility to help keep the house clean.”
Homework:
Write a short letter to a family member. Thank them for something they do for you, or tell them why you love spending time with them.
Extra Fun:
Draw a picture of your family doing one of your favorite traditions.
